In the Morning. A learner follows a short morning routine before going to work.
The monologue, line by line
Everyday register: safe conversational monologue. A natural personal routine. Saya remains appropriate, while time phrases are shortened the way they often are in speech. Everyday wording appears first; a standard reference is shown underneath when the wording differs.
Saya bangun jam enam. I wake up at six in the morning. Standard reference: Saya bangun jam enam pagi.
Habis mandi, saya sarapan. I shower and have breakfast. Standard reference: Saya mandi dan sarapan.
Saya minum teh. I drink tea.
Jam tujuh saya berangkat kerja. At seven I go to work. Standard reference: Jam tujuh saya pergi kerja.
Siangnya saya makan. At midday I eat. Standard reference: Siang hari saya makan.
Sore saya pulang. In the afternoon I go home. Standard reference: Sore hari saya pulang.
Malamnya saya belajar. At night I study. Standard reference: Malam hari saya belajar.
