Borrowing a Book at the Library. Borrowing books, returning them late, and choosing what to read next.

The dialogue, line by line

1. Saya mau meminjam dua buku ini.
   I would like to borrow these two books.
2. Boleh. Kartu perpustakaan ada?
   Certainly. Do you have a library card?
3. Ada. Kapan saya harus mengembalikan?
   Yes. When do I have to return them?
4. Dua minggu. Kalau telat ada denda kecil.
   Two weeks. If you are late there is a small fine.
5. Bulan lalu saya kehilangan satu buku.
   Last month I lost one book.
6. Tidak apa-apa, sudah diganti. Sekarang lebih dijaga, ya.
   It is fine, it was replaced. Take better care this time.
7. Pasti. Saya mau berlatih membaca bahasa Indonesia.
   I will. I want to practise reading Indonesian.
8. Bagus. Coba baca buku anak dulu, lebih mudah.
   Good. Try children's books first, they are easier.
9. Kadang saya berusaha membaca koran, tapi sulit.
   Sometimes I try to read the newspaper, but it is hard.
10. Jangan menghindari kata sulit. Baca pelan-pelan dan perhatikan konteksnya.
    Do not avoid difficult words. Read slowly and pay attention to the context.
11. Saya sering menerjemahkan tiap kalimat.
    I often translate every sentence.
12. Coba hindari itu. Tebak artinya dari konteks cerita.
    Try to avoid that. Work out the meaning from the story's context.
13. Baik. Boleh saya mengajak teman ke sini besok?
    All right. May I bring a friend here tomorrow?
14. Silakan. Kami juga menawarkan kelas gratis hari Sabtu.
    Please do. We also offer a free class on Saturdays.
