An Afternoon Maths Lesson. A tutor walks a student through a word problem step by step.

The dialogue, line by line

1. Sore ini kita latihan soal cerita.
   This afternoon we will practise word problems.
2. Saya paling susah yang model begitu.
   That is the type I find hardest.
3. Tenang. Baca dulu pelan-pelan.
   Relax. Read it slowly first.
4. Ada tiga kotak, masing-masing isi dua belas buku.
   There are three boxes, each containing twelve books.
5. Bagus. Sekarang kita mengalikan tiga dengan dua belas.
   Good. Now we multiply three by twelve.
6. Tiga puluh enam.
   Thirty six.
7. Betul. Lalu empat buku diambil.
   Correct. Then four books are taken out.
8. Berarti saya harus mengurangi empat.
   So I have to subtract four.
9. Iya. Hasilnya berapa?
   Yes. What is the result?
10. Tiga puluh dua.
    Thirty two.
11. Pintar. Sekarang kita menggabungkan hasil itu dengan sepuluh buku lagi.
    Well done. Now we combine that result with ten more books.
12. Jadi empat puluh dua.
    So forty two.
13. Tepat sekali.
    Exactly right.
14. Soal berikutnya saya coba sendiri?
    Shall I try the next question by myself?
15. Silakan. Temukan jawabannya pelan-pelan.
    Please do. Work out the answer slowly.
16. Kalau saya bingung, bisa pakai bahasa Inggris?
    If I get confused, can we use English?
17. Boleh, tapi coba bahasa Indonesia dulu.
    Yes, but try Indonesian first.
