Negation: tidak, bukan, belum, jangan
Four different words for 'no/not'. Which one to use depends on what you are negating.
How it works
• tidak, negates verbs and adjectives ('do not', 'is not ___') • bukan, negates nouns and pronouns ('not a ___') • belum, 'not yet' • jangan, 'don't!' (commands)
Examples
- Saya tidak lapar.
I'm not hungry. - Dia tidak tahu.
He/She doesn't know. - Ini bukan buku saya.
This is not my book. - Saya belum makan.
I haven't eaten yet. - Jangan lupa!
